Principles
Values
Values I strive to bring to my teams, my workplace, and the work I deliver.
Authenticity
I am unapologetically me. I am a proud and out transgender woman and I strive to demonstrate that while my experience is distinctly different from the statistical majority of software developers, my unique perspectives and talents enhance my team's collaboration and deliverables. I offer feedback and praise genuinely and with trust in my team's commitment to our mutual goals. I speak to my needs and the needs of my peers so that everyone is empowered to show up feeling like they can be themselves and feel supported and valued.
Curiosity
My job is not to have all the answers, it is to find the best answer and apply it. I ask questions openly knowing that someone else might be wondering the same thing but might be too timid to ask for themselves. Before imposing my own solution, I seek to understand the context so that everyone is working from the same shared understanding.
Public Impact
We are all fighting a quiet battle that no one else sees, for some it is more acute and more apparent than others. Unemployment, marginal employment, the joy of new life, and the anguish of lives passing happen to everyone and public benefit programs are an important means of recognizing the need for extra support during those life events. I am proud to be a part of ensuring everyone has access to the support they deserve.
Progression
I am an adventurous spirit. I thrive when solving new problems, seeing new things, when I'm growing past a previous boundary and realizing new potential. I'd be denying my sense of adventure if I settled too long in one place without trying something new, pursuing a new challenge, or if I allowed some injustice to remain unaddressed. I'm continually learning, growing, and improving as I pursue increasingly meaningful work.
